Hello, I'm Catherine
I’ve been making art in one form or another for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was always building, drawing, or painting, but equally fascinated by how movies could use visual effects to bring imaginary worlds to life. That curiosity eventually led me to study Computer Science and work in the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality field as an engineer. First at Microsoft and then at Apple, where I prototyped mixed reality experiences for the Apple Vision Pro. Whether I’m working with technology or paint, I’ve always loved finding ways to turn imagination into something you can actually see.
Working as an engineer is all about logic and structure, but painting is the opposite for me. I don’t plan much. I just show up, follow whatever feeling or color pulls me in, and see where it goes. It’s messy, intuitive, and kind of like a conversation I’m having with the canvas. The end result is always personal, but not just about me. I like to think the work becomes whatever you see or feel in it.
My paintings are mostly abstract, with a lot of motion and bright colors. They’re about emotion, energy and presence. About capturing a moment or feeling that can’t really be put into words. Some pieces feel joyful or playful, others more quiet and reflective and others more intense. I hope my paintings show you something in you that creates a spark.
